DIY Coasters

DIY Coasters

I found this DIY idea on the internet and decided to give it a try for myself. This project was alot easier and less of a mess than I had originally thought it might be. It actually ended up being a lot of fun and hardly cost anything! Not only can the coasters be used to set drinks on but candles as well. This is a really simple, fun, and creative DIY project and allows you to put your own twist of color on things!

Here's everything you need: sissors, ruler, pencil, 4x4 inch tiles (I got mine at Lowes for $0.36 if I remember correctly), 4x4 square of scrapbook paper (found at Hobby Lobby), rubber cement, small round felt pads (I found mine at the dollar store), clear spray paint with a glossy finish, (also found this at Lowes).

Here is what the first set looked like.

and here is another set. This one was probably my favorite!!

I have a candle sitting on one of the coasters and it matches perfect!

Steps for this DIY Project:
1. Take one of the tiles and wipe the top clean.
2. Cut a piece of scrapbook paper so that it is 4x4 inches in size.
3. Take the rubber cement and put it all over the top of the tile.
4. Place the 4x4 piece of scrapbook paper on top of the rummer cement. (if the rubber cement runs over and onto the outside edge of the tile that's ok! That's what is great about it. It just rubs right off and cleans up great).
5. I would recommend taking the tiles outside to spray them with the clear spray paint. Hold the spray can 10 inches from the tile making sure the tile gets several even coats. Wait a few minutes and repeat this step.
6. After letting the tiles dry for about 30 minutes they are ready to be used!

Enjoy!
